Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I have to have my instruction permit prior to enrolling in your course?
Not necessarily. There are two ways to acquire a Washington State Instruction Permit: 1) At the age of 15 1/2, a prospective teen driver can receive a permit by passing the 25 question knowledge test at the Department of Licensing (DOL). 2) If you are at least 15 years of age but under15 1/2, you may receive an instruction permit only after enrolling in a certified Traffic Safety Course.
2. How many drives do I have to do?
Washington state law mandates that students must drive a minimum of six hours behind-the wheel with a certified driving instructor. The way our program is structured, you will drive a minimum of ten times, two students to a car, with each student driving for thirty minutes and observing for thirty.
3. How soon can I start?
You can begin the day you enroll. One of the benefits of our self-paced program is that each student completes the program on a timetable that fits their personal schedule. Each student has their own starting and ending dates for their individual class session.
4. How long does it take to complete the course?
Since the program is self-paced and designed with your personal schedule in mind, you may attend class at your convenience during our regular business hours. You may take between five and 26 weeks to complete the course. This is the maximum allowable time period to complete a traffic safety course under Washington state law.
